| Internet Explorer users: If you have Windows98 installed the Windows Media Player should play MP3s automatically for you. You can also download the Windows Media Player by clicking here. Not that I like windows, mind you, it's just that it's free. I still hate Microsoft for forcing me to use their software. They can go to hell. |

This is Riq's
theme song. The best part is slide under chorus. You hear studio we recorded
it at, Trax East.
Trax East is a really good studio and cheap considering how hard it rocks.
This is a heavy stoner rock song with cool congas. This is kind of like
Melvins'
Hooch but jammy and trippy. It probably comes more from Kyuss or Eyehategod. Actually all those guys are just fakers.
The best rock singer ever was Captain
Beefheart. Click his name or image for a nice page. |

This is also like bolero-rock. The ending is another
ripoff of a Horace Silver tune called "Song for my Father"--damn
that's a beautiful song. The best part here is the bass line--probably
cus it sounds like Horace Silver. Click his name or image for some
audio of Horace. This song is about Cuba. Riq's trying to sound like Patti Smith.

| Jorge wrote this instrumental. He's real steady. That's a big complement
to a bass player.
This is like a Santana song (Riq's trying to sound like Alvin
Lee)

| This is a pretty rock-son. The coolest sound is the conga "puy" between verses. Here's a story: In Cuba when AIDS first came, they put people with AIDS in segregated prisons. Later, they made these prisons nicer than other prisons. At the same time there was a government crackdown on non-conformity. They saw kids who liked rock music as a threat to the state. A bunch of these kids got kicked out of school, lost jobs, got beat up and were seen as pariahs. All because they wore ripped up blue jeans and listened to Iron Maiden. Over a dozen of these kids injected themselves with the AIDS virus intentionally to escape from society and die slowly in the AIDS prisons. This song is about them sort of. I just saw the movie that's sort of about it called "Azucar Amarga (Bitter Sugar)". It was preachy. |
| -Once in a While.mp3 (1.9 MB) |
| This is a slacker-hip-hop-rock song that shuffles. My favorite part is the tambourine in the middle. We don't rip off anyone in particular in this song that I know of. Actually, it sounds like a Pharcyde song a little. |

![]() This song is in 5/4
time I think. The coolest part is the melody the congas make during the
intro. Sort of sounds like Gil-Scott
Heron, but more rock, less talent. Click his name or image for
a funky bio page. Maybe the Minutemen is a stretch, but we love the Minutemen. Click the name of the band for a
nice fan page. Click D. Boon's image for Mike Watt's (the bass player's)
Hootenanny page. |

The Jersey City boys, Riq & Jorge have been playing this song since our Jack Shit
days. I think this is inspired by Fela Kuti,
which inspired us integrating Latin music into rock in general. All-music guide has a nice
commercial page for Fela, though they don't tell you he spent 5
years in prison for running for president of Nigeria. Amnesty International got him out.
We love Fela, unfortunately he died of AIDS a few years ago. Click his image for a bio of
Fela. |
